about

There are several references to the technocult in the literature dating back to the mid 1980s. The group never implied their intentions fully and only fractions of their canon appear in peripheral forums. Most of these articles suggest preoccupation with modifying the human form. There was an apparent schism between members fascinated with body modification for it's counter-cultural component and members seeking spiritual consort through surgical intervention. At least some members had claimed that modification made members conduits for gods and ancient energy. This led to members striving to make themselves into the most impressive and intricate alters. Members pushed medical and scientific boundaries as well as legal and moral ones. The complete extent to which members experimented with implanting and modifying themselves remains unknown. Many members on the fringe burned-out in criminal and self-destructive enterprise. These are the most well publicized cases. Some disciples remain and now hold sway in fields of biotechnology, genetics and defense contracting. Alleged former members have also impacted the fields of design, philosophy, bioethics and art. There is no doubt that he group continues to exist, but their name is a whisper.
